How to Install the Thin-Part Wig for Curly Textures & Wig Clips

  • Skill level needed 1/10 - EXTREMELY BEGINNER FRIENDLY
  • Works with all curly/kinky curly textures such as Nicole, Candice, Kayla. We recommend a thin leave out for looser wavy textures like Queen, Kym, Tara, unless you have exceptional teasing skills, in which case you can pull it off on looser textures.

The most important step in installing the Thin-Part Wig when using our wig clips is to create an anchor area by TEASING YOUR ROOTS. This method of installing our Patent Pending Thin-Part Wig, allows you to wear your own REAL SCALP with no leave-out.  If you choose to wear a thin leave-out you can also create an anchor by teasing your roots or you can choose to have anchor braids.  The 'NO LEAVE-OUT' method will not work with anchor braids. You must tease your roots.

Do not install on unteased straight roots. The opening edge of the wig needs to be directly next to your part without exposing your own hair roots. If you install it on unteased roots, the wig can ever so slightly move away from your part which will expose your own roots and cause a slight gap which will not look natural or realistic and can potentially resemble the invisible part or crochet wig (neither of which we find to be 100% undetectable like our Thin-Part Wig). When installed properly this wig will appear to be your very own real roots growing from your own scalp. By teasing your roots first and attaching the wig to your teased roots, the opening edge of the wig will stay exactly where it should.
The wig clips are also much more comfortable when you attach it to teased roots rather than straight roots. When clipped onto teased roots you will barely feel the clips at all. If you clip it on to straight roots you are likely to feel the clips and they can possibly be uncomfortable.  This method also prevents the clips from potentially pulling out strands of your hair. So give yourself the extra 60 seconds it takes to tease your roots and you will have a flawless and safe install.
Additional tip: Over time the hair from the edge of the top opening your wig may get caught or tucked into your wig clips. It is important to untuck any hair from the wig clips so there is no bulk along the edge of the opening of the wig. You want to make sure the edge of the wig stays flat, free from bulk. We recommend checking the wig clips and removing any trapped hairs 1-2 times per week.

How to install the Thin-Part Wig on with Straight Textures & Wig Clips

  • Skill level needed 1/10 - EXTREMELY BEGINNER FRIENDLY
To install the Thin-Part Wig with wig clips when wearing straight textures, we recommend following our "teasing your roots as an anchor" technique detailed above. Watch the above video demonstrating the curly no leave-out technique  to learn how to tease your roots. The only difference is that you will have a leave-out. Tease the roots of your hair on each side of your leave-out. This will permit you to leave-out less hair and have less bulk at the top than if you were to use anchor braids.  You can of course opt to wear anchor braids at the top. However, with anchor braids you will need to have a slightly larger leave-out to cover the bulkiness of your anchor braids.
Most important steps to follow:
  1.  Attach the wig directly next to your leave-out parting. Do not allow any of your own roots to show. When you clip the wig on, your own roots should be fully covered by the wig. If your own roots show, your leave-out will need to be larger.
  2.  Use the warm side of a flat iron to flatten the top of the wig in order to get the roots of the wig to lay flat against your scalp.
  3.  If you have coarse hair or hair with texture, leave a little bit of texture at the roots of your leave-out rather than making your roots silky straight. The texture from your roots will give better coverage and blend better with the textured roots of the opening of the wig. If you want silky straight roots then you will need to leave-out slightly more hair.
